Effective management of forest genetic resources is a key element in future forest conservation. Genetic diversity is essential for both the long-term stability and the short-term productivity of forest ecosystems. Hence there is a great need for information on forest conservation genetics. Until now, there was no other book adressing this topic. The book consists of 22 chapters and is divided into five parts. It integrates genetic, ecological and socioeconomic information. It also includes, as a CD-ROM, the population genetics software package POPGENE.
